Terrific Kids

Pizza, certificates, pens and ice cream coupons! We honor student achievement of kids in grades 2-5 through their deeds and actions at school. We are currently sponsoring Kiwanis Terrific Kids for each elementary school within the Mehlville School District:

Kiwanis Collection

Our Kiwanis club has donated a set of social-emotional learning books to all elementary schools in the Mehlville School District. The current collection will be growing even larger come spring!

Builders Club

Our Kiwanis club brings in food and treats and recognizes, supports and encourages the kids, through example, so they feel empowered to do great things in their communities. We support Builders Club service projects, facilitate the Builders Club meetings, provide mentorships:

We sponsor a Builders Club for all middle school students in the Mehlville School District. Meetings are every Wednesday at 6:30 pm at Bernard Middle School.

Outstanding Students

Through this program, our club honors 1 eighth grade student from each of the Mehlville Middle Schools as well as a student from Hancock Place Middle School, and each of the 4 parochial schools within the Mehlville School District. These students are chosen by their teachers, principals, or classmates and are invited to be honored in person, along with their adults, at a weekly South County Kiwanis meeting.

Key Club

Our Kiwanis club supports Key Club service projects, provide mentorships and provide college scholarships for the Key Club students. We are currently sponsoring Key Clubs at Mehlville High School and Oakville High School.

Past Key Club projects include:

  • Book drives for the elementary schools
  • Reading to children at the Lemay Child Center
  • Tab tops collections
  • Rake & Run
  • Trick-or –Treat Tuesday
  • Assisted with TASK Sports
  • Toy collections
  • Peanut sales
  • Working booths at the district’s school picnics
  • Raising money for UNICEF
  • Volunteering with St. Louis County Parks
  • Helping out at elementary and middle school functions
  • Assisted with Special Olympics Basketball Tournament
